MORREN GALLERIES, founded in 1993, is a leading Dutch gallery for figurative art with two locations in The Netherlands: Amsterdam and Utrecht. Both galleries are situated in the vivid cultural and historical hearts of the cities: two hidden gems but actually easy to find, just like Hotel The Dylan!
Brooke Shaden grew up in Pennsylvania near the ‘Amish Country’ until attending Temple University. Brooke was ‘photographically’ born in December 2008 after graduating with bachelor degrees in Film and English. She now resides in Arizona, USA with her husband and three cats.
She began creating self-portraits for ease and to have full control over the images, and has since grown into a self-portrait artist. Self portraiture for her is not autobiographical in nature. Instead, she attempts to place herself within worlds she wishes we could live in, where secrets float out in the open. Brooke Shaden works to create new worlds within her photographic frame. By using painterly techniques as well as the square format, traditional photographic properties are replaced by otherworldly elements.
Barely four years out of college, Shaden is deeply rooted in the world of contemporary photography. She has been featured in worldwide (art)magazines and is sponsored by Adobe! In Canons project ‘Imagin8ion’ Shaden was chosen out of 96.000 contestants by director/producer Ron Howard as the winner of the ‘Time’ category. Her photo will be used as an inspiration and influence for a new Ron Howard short movie. Shaden has a wide scope: besides creating here pictures and participating in exhibitions, she lectures about her work, makes tutorial video’s, hosts workshops in France India, the US and the UK and in the middle of all this she even wrote a book about her photography: ‘Visions of Worlds’.
