The World Travel Awards are considered the Oscars of the international travel industry… seen as the ultimate award & highest recognition in this industry. Launched in 1993 and awarded for the 22nd time this year, the awards aim to celebrate those organisations pushing the boundaries of excellence.

During this years’ ceremony The Dylan Amsterdam is announced; The Netherlands Leading Hotel! The Dylan Amsterdam also won this award in 2008 and 2009.

After receiving this amazing news we spoke with the General Manager René Bornmann about winning this award.

Congratulations with winning this award for the third time! What is your first reaction?

I’m very happy and of course very proud of the hard work of our team. Winning this award is a great feel of recognition for our ongoing commitment to excellence, service and luxury.

There are a lot of hotels and great names opening in Amsterdam. How have you managed, as stand-alone hotel, to win this award with everything going on in Amsterdam?

I believe we managed to win this award because of our highly distinctive character.

The Dylan is a strong and authentic brand with a focus on highly personal service.

It is even more satisfying to have been announced ‘Netherlands leading hotel’ with this growing competition of great hotels here in Amsterdam.

Do you think your award winning restaurant does influence winning this award?

I am sure that the fact that we can deliver a full experience completed with a great dinner in one of our restaurants, will certainly influence our guests to stay with us. In reviews of our guests we can see that the restaurant experience is regularly mentioned as a positive note too, so we won’t be surprised if that has helped!.

What are the future plans of the Dylan to hopefully be considered again for next years’ nomination?

We will continue to do what we are doing and where we are good at! Continuously go above and beyond expectations to deliver excellent service to our guests and remain at the top.

Next to that we will continue to create new and unique offerings, like the renovation of a new Bar Brasserie which we schedule to open early next year.
